NOVA was formed in 1996 by veteran videographer Rommie Sebo after attending his third WEVA (Wedding and Event Videographers Association) Expo in San Deigo. It was there that he met with other local northeast Ohio videographers to discuss the idea of forming a local videographers association. After much planning, NOVA’s first meeting was held at the Beachwood Public Library.
Over the past 17 years NOVA has met in no less than nine different locations.
During his tenure as President, Rommie began a long association with WEVA by serving on the WEVA Tripod Committee, WEVA Ethics Committee, WEVA Continuing Education Committee, and the WEVA Local Association Committee. He also served as a judge for the 1999 WEVA Creative Excellence Awards. It was through these efforts that WEVA learned of the success of NOVA as a local association and chose Cleveland as one of the cities for its WEVA Town Meeting Tour in 2000.
Over the course of its 17 years NOVA has had some of the top leaders in the video industry as speakers at their monthly meetings. John Goolsby, Robert Allen, Tim Ryan, John Weppler, Kris Malandruccolo, and Julie Albaugh, all made stops in Cleveland to speak to our association
After serving as President for twelve consecutive years, Rommie stepped down from the position in 2008. Larry Rosner, who was serving as Vice-President at the time, took over the duties as President and Rommie took over Larry’s position as Vice President. Under this current leadership, NOVA continues to improve and provide valuable information to its membership. NOVA is Ohio’s only local video association.
